Biography

Dr. Tomohiro Tasaki is the head of Sustainable Material Cycle Systems Section of Center for Material Cycles and Waste Management Research, National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES), Japan. He is also a visiting professor of Graduate School of Frontier Sciences, the University of Tokyo.
His expertise is systems analysis and policy science in the field of waste management and resource/material use. From this standpoint, he has been conducting consumer surveys in Japan and Asian countries to promote sustainable consumption and attempted scenario approaches and idea generations methods to explore Japanese lifestyles in the future (SusLife project homepage, http://www.nies.go.jp/program/psocial-e/pj2/).
His core interests are in sustainable and inclusive food systems development, food value addition and processing, food loss and waste and smallholder value chain development.
